The siren

The siren

I didn’t think I would hear that siren,

Not once it overtook me and sounded loud,

In my head I screamed inside.

First Brexit, now rising prices,

Then these war drums call calling too.

Those poor people..

We have it lucky we say,

As we wonder how we will pay

To eat, to sleep, to live.

My head is a mess

Is war coming soon?

Are the seals torn open,

That wretched revelations book

Is really true?

I try to turn my head over thinking off

But when I close my eyes I just see war

The Terror the pain

The siren wailing so loud

I feel it will lift my head into a cloud.

Please stop wailing

I beg you please stop
